Lori Armstrong, RN, ONC, who works as the bone and joint coordinator on the med/surg unit, was recognized May 22 as the Northern Dutchess Hospital Nursing Employee of the Year.
The Rhinebeck, N.Y., facility honored Armstrong for leadership, said Pam Rhodes, RN, vice president of patient care services and CNO.
“Lori led the charge toward achieving the distinguished Joint Commission specialty certification for hip and knee replacement,” Rhodes said in a news release. “Lori is a leader in every sense of the word, promotes teamwork and engages staff by sharing knowledge and best-practice guidelines, which promotes positive patient outcomes.”
Armstrong received her ADN from Rockland Community College, Suffern, N.Y., and a bachelor’s in sociology from the State University of New York at Cortland. She joined the hospital in September 2002 as a staff nurse and was promoted to her current role in 2010.
