Alfred I. duPont Hospital appoints new chief nurse executive

Jane Mericle, RN, MHS-CL, BSN, CENP, has been appointed chief nurse executive of Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Del., according to a news release. Most recently, she served as senior director and associate chief nurse executive at the hospital and is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives.

Mericle joined Nemours in October 2011, coming from Duke University Hospital, where she served as associate chief nursing officer for Duke Children’s Hospital and Health Center in Durham, N.C.

Mericle served in a variety of leadership positions at Duke including director of clinical operations for the Children’s Hospital. She has published extensively and is a frequent presenter at national conferences.

During her first two years at Neumors, Mericle has been instrumental in the advancement of nursing care and clinical program development, according to the release.
