Rex Healthcare Retains Its Magnetic Appeal

Rex Healthcare announced it has again received Magnet designation for excellence in nursing care from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Rex was the first hospital in the Triangle (in 2006) to receive Magnet designation and is among fewer than 20% of hospitals in North Carolina to do so, according to a news release. The re-designation provides patients with an objective evaluation of the quality of care they can expect to receive.

“I’m proud of our co-workers’ hard work, which has placed our hospital among the best in nursing care,” said Mary Lou Powell, RN, CNO and senior vice president of patient care services. “This designation allows Rex to continue to attract and retain the best nursing care professionals to maintain our high level of nursing care.”

To achieve re-designation, hospitals must prove positive outcomes through data and examples shown to appraisers. The Magnet Recognition Program was developed by the ANCC to recognize healthcare organizations that provide nursing excellence and serve as a vehicle for disseminating successful nursing practices and strategies.
