Much at stake for healthcare as Election Day looms


An election that could have a profound effect on the future of healthcare in the United States is mere days away.

After Nov. 6, President Barack Obama could remain in position to continue implementing the Affordable Care Act while working to reduce Medicare and Medicaid expenditures without radically altering those programs.

Or former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney could move into position to follow through on pledges to overturn all or most of the ACA and substantially change Medicare and Medicaid in an effort to control costs and reduce the federal budget deficit.
