I wanted to share the wonderful experience I had with the entire nursing staff in the intensive care nursery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. On Sept. 22, I received a call from my son that his baby was going to be delivered because of severe preeclampsia. I took the next plane to Philadelphia from Germany.
Our little miracle baby weighed 2.2 pounds at birth. After spending 2 1/2 months in the intensive care nursery he is now home and thriving with mom and dad.
The nurses at the hospital always were caring and concerned for our entire family, even after the end of a 12-hour shift. Even when our little Nolan was not their assignment, they always stopped by to see how he (and we) were doing. These nurses are angels.
I was blessed to be able to sit by my grandsons side through those long weeks. The entire time these nurse angels watched over, cared for, performed too many procedures to count and still were gracious and kind to us. The entire intensive care nursery staff was a true blessing for our family.
