Christian International School of Healthcare Professions began a joint venture with Clearwater Christian College, according to its website, CISHP.org. In January 2013, CCC students pursuing the new bachelors degree in global nursing ministries will be attending the Largo, Fla., campus, to complete the nursing portion of their studies.
Each nursing candidate will complete foundational, liberal arts instruction in biblically focused classrooms on CCCs campus, followed by 48 weeks or four condensed semesters of nursing training through the program at Christian International. Through this partnership, graduates of the CCC nursing program will receive two degrees: a bachelor of science in global nursing ministries from CCC and an ASN from CISHP.
Last fall, the CISHP showcased their new nursing facilities in Largo on Nov. 1 with an open house and grand opening ceremony. The Nursing School was first established in Seminole, Fla., in 2010. It quickly became obvious that expected growth would dictate the need for expansion, according to the schools Relationships and Resource Development and Management office. A new 37,000 square foot facility was purchased and the school moved to Largo in January.
Currently, there are more than 50 students in the practical nursing and RN programs, with additional students scheduled to begin this summer. Aside from classroom instruction, the students spend much of their time in the on-campus skills lab. The lab is equipped with hospital beds, cutting-edge simulators, and hi-tech equipment, which allows the students to experience a variety of scenarios in a nonthreatening environment before they begin their clinical rotations working on patients in a real-world setting.
