Nurses receive leadership positions at Advocate South Suburban

Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, Ill., recently announced new positions for two of its nurses.

Brad Daniels, RN, BSN, was named nurse manager of the ED. According to a news release, Daniels is responsible for the coordination of the overall operations of the ED in pursuit of safe, effective patient care. He monitors standards of nursing practice, ensures availability and appropriate use of resources and supports collaboration between nursing, physicians and other staff.

Daniels has 14 years of ED experience, including five years at Advocate South Suburban Hospital’s ED. He has more than 10 years of ED leadership and supervisory experience in roles such as assistant ED manager at South Suburban Hospital and ED director at Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

Daniels earned his BSN from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Ill. He also served in the U.S. Navy for eight years.

Sue Grelak, RN, BSN, was named manager of quality improvement at Advocate South Suburban Hospital.

In her role, Grelak manages the overall hospital quality process and key clinical indicators, according to the release. She also facilitates the management review process, overall health outcomes and continual performance improvement.

Grelak served as coordinator of quality assurance at Advocate South Suburban Hospital since 2011. Her experience also includes 10 years at St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields, Ill., where she was a case manager and then a quality improvement analyst. In addition, Grelak has held a number of front-line nursing positions throughout her career.

Grelak holds a master’s degree in health service administration from the University of St. Francis and a BSN from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind.
