Widener School of Nursing receives funding from Nurse for Tomorrow

Widener University School of Nursing in Chester, Pa., recently was selected to receive grants of $70,490 and $6,392 through Independence Blue Cross Foundation’s Nurses for Tomorrow scholarship program.

According to a news release, Nurses for Tomorrow is an initiative created by the Independence Blue Cross Foundation as part of a broader strategy to enhance healthcare delivery by supporting nursing education and the development of future nurses.

According to the foundation’s website, the purpose of its nursing scholarship grants is to increase the number of licensed practice nurses, nursing educators and advanced practice nurses specializing in primary care and geriatric care.

“The grants will be used to support a number of our outstanding graduate and undergraduate students as they strive to achieve their dreams and make a difference in the nursing profession, both in the arenas of patient care delivery and nursing education,” Deborah Garrison, RN, PhD, dean of the school of nursing, said in the release.
