Applications for the 2013 Greater New York Hospital Association Scholarship are due by Aug. 15. The scholarship is awarded to a nurse who is pursing a masters degree.
The scholarship funds, which are being provided by the Execu|Search Group, are being made available to a nurse who must be a resident of New York, New Jersey or Connecticut and be either an employee or student of a current GNYAHR member.
Applicants must have completed at least one semester of nursing graduate coursework; be enrolled on a part-time basis in an accredited masters degree program; have a minimum GPA of 3.0; and provide proof of enrollment by submitting a current transcript or letter from the schools registrar.
Providing proof of community involvement also is preferred.
Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria must submit two letters of recommendation from a professional colleague and/or faculty member who has knowledge of the applicants professional goals, commitment and academic performance. Each applicant also must include an essay of 500 words or fewer describing what inspired him or her to choose a career in nursing, professional achievements and future contributions the recipient hopes to make toward advancing the profession.
