Nurses at The Chester County Hospital and Health System in West Chester, Pa., have achieved the following:
Nichole Coleman, RN, BSN, PCCN, was named as the recipient of the H.L. Perry Pepper Nursing Leadership Award. Coleman has precepted charge nurses from other units, and they have developed a hospitalwide charge nurse council. The H. L. Perry Pepper Leadership Award is awarded annually to a nurse based on the health systems iCARE values.
Betty Brennan, RN, EdD, MSN, CEN, CNML, has been selected as a 2013 Healthcare Hero. This honor, given by Main Line Today magazine and Neumann University in Aston, Pa., is bestowed upon individuals who are shining examples of community service, patient concern and leadership in the local healthcare field, according to a news release. Brennan was recognized for collaboration with county mental health services, crisis center support, case management and ED physicians and nursing staff to develop processes that would create a team approach for the behavioral health patient. Priorities included process and guideline design, information sharing and problem identification and solving.
The February DAISY Award was presented to Kathie Magee, RN, of PACU. In the nomination letter, a patient wrote, “Kathie most certainly went above and beyond caring for my physical, mental and emotional needs and deserves this nomination.”
The March DAISY Award was presented to Patricia Hauck, RN, AOCN, of the cancer center. In the nomination letter, a patient wrote, “Patty, RN, appeared out of nowhere and wrapped me in a supportive hug. Her intuitive action was exactly what (and when) I needed. Pattys caring, thoughtful and warm manner really touched my heart.”
