Bayhealth recently honored its nurses of the year, who were nominated by their peers. A committee comprised of department directors evaluated the nominations and determined award winners in a blind review process based on the Delaware Excellence in Nursing Practice Awards criteria used by the Delaware Nurses Association and the Delaware Organization of Nurse Leaders.
All Bayhealth nominations also are submitted for the Delaware Excellence in Nursing Practice Awards.
In addition to winning in their categories (see below), Megan Klonzaris, RN, BSN, CCRN, and Olga Savoskina, RN, BSN, PCCN, were Nurses of the Year at Bayhealths Milford (Del.) Memorial Hospital and Kent General Hospital in Dover, Del., respectively.
Winners in specific categories at Milford Memorial were: Jessica Soja, RN, BSN (community-based); Nina Vira, RN, BSN (new registered nurse graduate); Ann Veith, RN, BSN (clinical nurse, inpatient, hospital-based); Cathy Gegaris, RN, MSN, ACNS-BC, CCRN (advanced-practice); and Klonzaris (clinical nurse, critical care, hospital-based). Other nominees were: Karen Magee, RN; Kimberly Green, RN, PCCN; Erin Wagoner, RN; and Robin Maracle, RN, CMSRN.
Winners in specific categories at Kent General were: Dawn Culp, RN, MSN, SANE-A, SANE-B (community-based); Patricia Butts, RN (new registered nurse graduate); Gail Mesa, RN, BSN (clinical nurse, inpatient, hospital-based); Debbie Warshawsky, RN, MSN, ACNP-BC (advanced-practice); and Savoskina (clinical nurse, critical care, hospital-based). Other nominees were Angie Creech, RN, CMSRN; Susan Ebaugh, RN, MSN, APN, ACNS-BC, CEN; Katie Faulkner, RN, BSN; Stephanie Hollick, RN; Kimberly Hollowell, RN, BSN; Mary Ellen Konrad, RN, BSN; Krystal Messick, RN; Ashley Pierce, RN.
