Good Shepherd Medical Center, a general medical and surgical 425-bed hospital in Longview, Texas, has received top rankings in several treatment areas based on two separate 2013 hospital surveys.
Good Shepherd earned a rank of 33 within Texas and was named one of 42 Texas hospitals to meet standards for strong performance in 2013, according to U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals report. There are 624 hospitals in Texas.
Good Shepherd was one of five hospitals among 62 in the region of Piney Woods to meet standards for strong performance, according to U.S. News & World Report. It also was recognized as being a high-performing hospital in two adult specialties: orthopedics and pulmonology.
Officials at Good Shepherd Medical Center also announced in a news release their notification of receiving the 2013 quality award rankings from CareChex, a division of The Delta Group, an independent quality ratings group. These rankings listed Good Shepherd Medical Center as #1 in the market for medical excellence in overall hospital care and overall medical care. Good Shepherd was ranked in the top 100 in the nation for medical excellence in the following areas: overall hospital care, overall medical care, cardiac care, gallbladder removal, gastrointestinal care, general surgery, heart attack treatment, interventional coronary care, major bowel procedures, orthopedic care, major orthopedic surgery, pulmonary care and stroke care.
