Saint Agnes Hospital in Baltimore has named Lucy Ferko, RN, MA, as senior vice president of clinical institutes and ambulatory services.
Ferko will be responsible for leading all clinical institutes, including cancer, cardiovascular, metabolic, orthopedic and spine, plastic and reconstructive surgery, womens and childrens services and associated ambulatory services. According to a news release, the hiring is supportive of Saint Agnes strategic plan, which emphasizes physician and ambulatory development, clinical institutes, clinical excellence and coordinated care, as well as community partnerships.
Having worked in the healthcare industry for 28 years, Ferko has experience in a wide range of medical disciplines. She has served as a nurse, manager, director and most recently, senior healthcare executive. Ferko has helmed a variety of major projects, including managing ORs and expanding and building clinical service lines. Her work ethic and proven results have earned her the reputation of being a highly skilled executive in the areas of operations, new program development and expansion, physician recruitment and process improvement, according to the release.
Her executive experience includes more than 10 years of leading the development of clinical institutes at St. Joseph Medical Center in Townson, Md., and Frederick Memorial Healthcare System. Ferko most recently was vice president of service line development and operations at Frederick (Md.) Memorial Hospital.
Ferkos clinical nursing background coupled with her operations expertise provides her with a unique perspective, according to the release. She is well-versed in service line development, strategic planning, productivity management, budgeting, joint commission knowledge and leadership, clinical program start ups, physician recruitment, physician contracting, joint venture planning, process improvement, cost saving initiatives, patient safety initiatives and marketing.
