Northwestern College in Bridgeview, Ill, recently announced the appointment of Janet H. Davis, RN, PhD, as dean of the Violet L. Schumacher School of Nursing.
Davis comes to Northwestern College from Robert Morris University in Chicago where she was the founding dean of the College of Nursing and Health Studies. The Violet L. Schumacher School of Nursing opened in the fall of 2010 and has graduated two classes of nurses.
Davis previously has worked at Walden University, the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Nursing, West Suburban College of Nursing-Concordia University in River Forest, Ill., and Rush University in Chicago.
She is an author and co-author, having published research abstracts, 30 articles, a book and chapters in two additional books, according to a news release. She has been a frequent lecturer at local, state and national nursing and healthcare organizations as well as at local hospitals and faculty workshops. Her scholarly writing and lectures have covered topics such as animal-facilitated therapy, career development and nursing education innovations.
In addition, Davis is a Higher Learning Commission consultant evaluator.
