Saint Xavier University in Chicago recently earned the top spot on U.S. News & World Reports 2014 Best Online Graduate Nursing Programs list. SXUs online graduate nursing program was ranked No. 1 on the annual list, which was released on Jan. 8.
This ranking demonstrates that with dynamic leadership and talented faculty who model and demonstrate best practices in online education, Saint Xavier University continues its commitment to excellence in nursing education and to the core values of respect, excellence, compassion, service, hospitality, integrity and learning for life, School of Nursing Dean Gloria Jacobson, RN, PhD, said in a news release.
The rankings, in their third year, are a resource for students seeking online education programs for degree completion and career advancement. The 2014 U.S. News Best Online Programs include online bachelors degrees and online masters degrees in nursing, engineering, business, education and computer information technology, as well as information on the costs of an online degree.
The 2014 rankings evaluate information and data from nearly 1,000 online degree programs, up from 860 programs the previous year. Only degree-granting programs offering classes entirely online were considered.
This year, U.S. News changed the methodologies significantly to incorporate additional data; further enhance its analytically rigorous approach; and better reflect retention rates, graduation rates and required time to graduate. For the first time, all six rankings include peer-reviewed data based on schools evaluations of each other.
These changes are the primary factors why many of the schools moved up and down in the rankings, according to the release.
