MSN students at Mount St. Mary’s College explored issues including radiology delays, medication errors and breastfeeding education as part of the 2013 Graduate Nursing Research Poster Symposium in December at its Doheny Campus near downtown Los Angeles.

The event showcased the most recent research studies of the college’s MSN students, with 11 students presenting their research and recommendations, according to a news release. The more than 100 guests had the chance to read posters prepared by each student, and to discuss their findings with the graduate students. Guests included medical colleagues, nursing professionals, faculty and fellow students.

Marsha Sato, RN, EdD, MN, director of the MSN program, and Tori Canillas-Dufau, RN, EdD, MSN, coordinated the annual event. The syposium is designed to facilitate the discussion of student-identified issues and spotlight possible solutions relevant to the profession. The event also provides a networking opportunity for students and others in the community.

The 2013 symposium research-presenters included Denise Breheny, Terrevia Buck, Joselito Castro, Lydia Ifejeokwu, Kimberly Marin, Viola Mena, Esther Odeh, Lorina Punsalang, Paola Rodriguez, Roxanne Romuroso and Rochelle Vasco.
