Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital notable nurses


Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, Ill., recognized the following notable nurses:

BSNs were earned by Rochelle Givan, RN; Bonnie Goedert, RN; Mike Alagna, RN; and Jessica Leddy, RN. MSNs were earned by Nancy Coffey, RN, and Dawn Davison, RN.

Davison attained certified post anesthesia nurse certification. Georginia Maloloyon, RN, attained her progressive care certified nurse certification. Karen Harris RN, BSN, OCN, and Arielle Payne RN, BSN, OCN, became certified in oncology nursing.
Fortune Dabu, RN, BSN, and Karen Calimlim, RN, BSN, were selected to participate in two days of product development for the Vein Viewer device. They were chosen based on their current experience and commitment to using the vein viewer when starting IVs and both were involved in the Vein Viewer Research Study done at GSAM in 2012-2013.

An article titled “Comparison of aPTT values from venipuncture specimens and central line specimens in hospitalized adult patients receiving continuous heparin infusions” authored by Mary Sue Dailey, APN-CNS, Barb Berger, RN, PhD, and Fortune Dabu, RN, BSN, was accepted for publication in Critical Care Nurse. Mary Sue Dailey, APN-CNS, was selected to serve on the American Association of Ambulatory Care Nurses’ Care Coordination Transition Management Expert Panel. The panel is charged with developing competencies and an evidence-based core curriculum for transition management and includes members from across the U.S. Beverly Foley, RN, BSN, CGRN, has received certification in gastroenterology nursing.

At the Advocate Trauma Symposium in Lisle on Nov. 21-22, the following nurses gave poster presentations: Goedert with “RN-to-RN Bedside Shift Report in the Emergency Department of a Level I Trauma Center” and Evelyn Clark-Kula, RN, MSN, CEN, with “Workplace Violence Risk Reduction in a Level I Trauma Center.”
